LapCabby and Monarch Education Furniture commit to a sustainable future

At LapCabby and Monarch Education Furniture, we recognise that businesses play a crucial role in addressing the urgent issue of climate change. As part of our commitment to sustainability, we are proud to announce our pledge to significantly reduce our carbon emissions, aligning with the Paris Agreement goals and climate science, guided by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi).

By signing this commitment letter, LapCabby and Monarch Education Furniture join a growing group of leading corporations dedicated to taking meaningful action against climate change. Our Managing Director, Stuart Hopkin, officially endorsed this commitment, marking a significant step in our sustainability journey.

Our Commitment to Sustainability
LapCabby and Monarch Education Furniture have pledged to:

  • Reduce GHG emissions by 2030: We aim to cut our absolute greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions across scopes 1, 2, and 3 by 42% from our 2023 baseline by 2030. This ambitious target reflects our dedication to immediate and impactful change.
  • Achieve Net-Zero by 2050: By 2050, we commit to reducing our absolute emissions across scopes 1, 2, and 3 by 90%. For any residual emissions that remain, we will neutralise their impact by permanently removing an equivalent volume of atmospheric CO2, achieving net-zero GHG emissions.
  • Annual reporting: Transparency is key to our approach. We will publicly report our company-wide scope 1, 2, and 3 GHG emissions and our progress against these targets on an annual basis, adhering to the Greenhouse Gas Protocol Corporate Accounting and Reporting Standards.

About the Science Based Targets Initiative (SBTi)
The Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) is a collaborative organisation that enables companies and financial institutions to set ambitious greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions reduction targets grounded in climate science. Founded by CDP, the United Nations Global Compact, World Resources Institute (WRI), and the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF), the SBTi provides standards, tools, and guidance to help businesses align their goals with the latest climate science, aiming to limit global warming to 1.5°C and achieve net-zero emissions by 2050 (World Resources Institute) (Science Based Targets).
For more details about the Science Based Targets initiative and how it supports companies in setting and achieving their emissions reduction targets, you can visit their official website (World Resources Institute) (Science Based Targets).

Why this matters
Climate change poses a significant risk to the future of our planet, affecting human society and natural ecosystems alike. By committing to these targets, LapCabby and Monarch Education Furniture recognise the crucial role that the business community must play in mitigating these risks. Our efforts are not just about compliance but about leading by example and fostering a sustainable future for generations to come.

Moving forward
As we embark on this journey, we invite our stakeholders, partners, and customers to join us in supporting these initiatives. Together, we can make a significant impact and contribute to the global effort to combat climate change.
